CHANGES IN REP PROGRAM FOR 2010-11

The Fort McMurray Rep Teams Program will be significantly different next season. The three AA league we competed last season will not be operating for the 2010/11 season. Here is a summary of how this will impact Fort McMurray: - Peewee AA: the East Central Peewee AA League (ECPWHL) announced that it will be folding at the end of this season. Fort McMurray had been a member of this league for more than 20 years. Unfortunately, several teams from around Edmonton made the decision to join the 1660 League as they could no longer support the travel associated with the ECPWHL. Unfortunately the 1660 League will not accept teams outside their boundaries and there are no other Peewee AA league in Northern Alberta. The 1660 League will consider scheduling exhibition games for the remaining members of the ECPWHL (Fort McMurray, Cold Lake, Wainwright) and Grande Prairie. Discussions are still ongoing on the Peewee AA program for next year, but it is almost certain that the Ft McMurray Peewee AA will not be playing in a league next year except for exhibition games and tournaments. The BOD is reviewing several options including the possibility of having the Peewee AA as a "development team" whereby the players are dispersed in the WBHL Peewee Tier 1 Division and then join together for out of town Peewee AA games.
- Bantam AA: Fort McMurray is joining the new Edmonton Rural Alberta Bantam AA League next season. This new league will include more than 32 teams in Northern Alberta including teams in Edmonton. Fort McMurray will play a regular season schedule of 30 games (12 home/18 away).
- Midget AA: Fort McMurray is joining the new Northern Alberta Midget AA League that includes 24 teams from the former Rural Alberta Midget Hockey League (RAMHL) and the Rural Edmonton Midget Hockey League (REMHL). Fort McMurray will play a regular season schedule of 33 games (14 home/19 away).
