Faceoff on the Fairway 

Helping grow local talent 

(Fort McMurray, AB – August 19, 2024) – The Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association (FMMHA) is  hosting its inaugural golf tournament, Faceoff on the Fairway, on September 20, 2024, in support of the  Junior Oil Barons Hockey Division.  

Faceoff on the Fairway is a chance for the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo community to come together in  support of local hockey while getting in a great round of golf. The tournament’s support of the Junior Oil  Barons Hockey Program will play a critical role to enhance and develop the program, supporting travel  

costs, development opportunities for players and coaches, and player scholarships as they move into the  next level of hockey.  

“Growing up in Fort McKay, we spent many hours on our outdoor rink. With support like this, I am sure  some of our local players would have had a better chance to take their skills to the next level,” says David  Bouchier, President and Co-Owner, Bouchier, and Honorary Chair of Bouchier Junior Oil Barons Golf  Tournament Committee. “We are thrilled to continue our support of local hockey, because we know the  impact recreation can have in a young person’s life.” 

Bouchier is the inaugural presenting sponsor of the tournament, committed to giving back in their  community. Bouchier has been dedicated to local hockey for over a decade through equipment, travel and  tournament funding.

The tournament takes place at Fort McMurray Golf Club with a 12pm shotgun start. In addition to golf, the  day includes prizes, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, live entertainment, welcome bags, and a steak dinner.  Golfers who come dressed as iconic hockey figures have a chance to win the best dressed prize.

The Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association’s elite programs consist of 9 teams from U11-U18, 5 AA teams, and 3 A  teams. For the first time, the program now offers a AAA team in U13.
