Faceoff on the Fairway
raises $44,000 in support of Junior Oil Barons

(Fort McMurray, AB – October XX, 2024) – Faceoff on the Fairway, the inaugural golf tournament in support of the Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association (FMMHA), raised more than $44,000 to support Junior Oil Barons programs in the region.

The tournament, presented by Bouchier, was an important event to raise funds and awareness of the Junior Oil Barons Hockey Program, which allows players to stay at home and play at a higher level of hockey in the Wood Buffalo region. The tournament welcomed 122 golfers to the Fort McMurray Golf Club, as well as 29 local sponsors.

“Faceoff on the Fairway was an incredible success in its first year, and we have our local community to thank for that,” says David Bouchier, President and Co-Owner, Bouchier, and Honorary Chair of Bouchier Junior Oil Barons Golf Tournament Committee. “Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo is full of people who care, and we were happy to see the community step up in support of this great local program. I’d like to thank the incredible sponsors who made this event such a success.”

Bouchier was the inaugural presenting sponsor of the tournament, committed to giving back to their community. For more than a decade, Bouchier has supported local hockey by providing funds for equipment, travel and tournaments.

“Support like this shows how much our community values opportunities for young people to further their dreams,” says Steve Schreyer, President, Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association. “This funding will help us make this program even better, while providing important financial support for players and their families to travel and continue their development.”
