Now Hiring: Referee-in-Chief for Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association (FMMHA) – 2024-2025 Season
The Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association (FMMHA) is inviting applications for the position of Referee-in-Chief for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. This role spans a two-year term and presents an opportunity for individuals passionate about hockey to contribute to the organization’s leadership.
Position Details:
- This is a board-selected position with a two-year term.
- Approximately 8-10 hours per week commitment throughout the hockey season.
Job Description:
The Referee-in-Chief plays a pivotal role within the Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association (FMMHA) and reports directly to the President. Collaborating closely with the Hockey Operations committee, the Referee-in-Chief ensures the recruitment, development, and retention of qualified officials to support the organization’s needs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Reporting directly to the President and collaborating closely with the Hockey Operations committee.
- Implementing strategies to recruit, develop, and retain qualified officials.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels with referees, coaches, players, and parents.
- Overseeing the assignment of referees for games and tournaments, ensuring fair and consistent officiating standards.
- Providing ongoing training and support to officials, including rule interpretation and game management.
- Addressing concerns and resolving disputes related to officiating in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborating with league officials and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with governing rules and regulations.
- Serving as a representative of FMMHA at meetings, conferences, and other relevant events.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in officiating and/or hockey administration.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of hockey rules and regulations, with a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
