Vice President of Development

The VP of Development is accountable for strategic planning and future forward thinking for development across Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association by maintaining and enhancing community partnerships.   This role is an essential part of the decision making structure for FMMHA as a voting member on the executive board.

The VP of Development will be accountable for negotiating contracts with development partners.   They will look for opportunities to enhance our existing resources and partnership with  Power Edge Pro and Hockey Alberta. This position will oversee all volunteer development directors.

The VP of Development reports to the President of Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association.

Secure and Foster relationships with player development partners

Deliver Coach Development Program Plans & Coaching Strategies

Oversee Seasonal Development Budget

Strategic planning and growth for  future FMMHA programs 

 

 

Time Commitment: 800 hours annually

Travel Commitment: 1 weekend annually for Hockey Alberta Development weekend.

Vice President of Development

a) Will investigate all potential grants from Government and Sporting Agencies
b) Will co-ordinate grant applications in conjunction with other executive members.
c) Will ensure any coach interviews consist of a minimum of 3 members without conflict of
Interest for all new coaches and coaches that they deem to require a formal interview
process. Will forward nominations/candidates to the executive committee for approval
d) Will report to the President

Skills and Qualities: 

The ideal nominee should have:

  • Diplomacy, negotiation and collaboration skills
  • An understanding of FMMHA operations and practices through prior experience in the prior positions on the FMMHA Board of Directors and/or significant exemplary coaching experience
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to respond immediately to queries, issues and requests for support and be willing to forgo planned personal activities when issue arise
  • Strong facilitation skills to lead discussions with large groups of people
  • An understanding of all Gsuite tools and the ability to use IT tools required for operations: Gmail, google Docs, Survey Monkey, Sign up Genius, Social Media Tools.
