Vice President of Operations

The VP Ops is accountable for delivering all Hockey Operations for the WBHL, Female Huskies, and Inclusion Royals programs.  This role is an essential part of the decision making structure for FMMHA as a voting member on the executive board.

The VP Ops will act as the League governor for the WBHL and Program governor for Female Huskies. They will be required to issue discipline and mitigate conflict across the program's coaches, players, and families.

This position will oversee the Hockey Operations Committee. They will also be responsible for managing the Female Huskies, Royals, and WBHL program sponsors.

The VP Ops reports to the President of FMMHA

WBHL & Huskies League Governor & Discipline 

Financial Governance of all WBHL & Huskies operations including individual teams  

FMMHA Ice Allocation 

WBHL& Huskies Scheduling 

Oversee special teams(Inclusion Hockey)

 

Time Commitment: 1500 hours annually

Travel Commitment: 1 weekend annually for Hockey Alberta AGM,  and must be available to attend Female league AGMs and planning meetings

Vice President of Operations

a) Will assume duties of President in the absence of both the President and Vice President
of Elite.
b) May be signing authority for association along with President, VP of Finance,
Administrator and Vice President of Elite.
c) Will oversee day to day hockey operations both internally and externally for the Wood Buffalo
Hockey League
d) Will be responsible for tiering within Wood Buffalo Hockey League
e) Will Oversee Ice Allocation
f) Will act as League governor and oversee discipline for Wood Buffalo Hockey League
g) Will arrange within hockey operations for attendance at various league meetings
h) Will be responsible for managing special projects as identified by the association
i) Will be responsible for overseeing the applications for special hockey events and
major tournaments, will also oversee FMMHA Tournament Coordinator
j) Will report to the President

Skills and Qualities: 

The ideal nominee should have:

  • Diplomacy, negotiation and collaboration skills
  • An understanding of FMMHA operations and practices through prior experience in the prior positions on the FMMHA Board of Directors and/or significant exemplary coaching experience
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to respond immediately to queries, issues and requests for support and be willing to forgo planned personal activities when issue arise
  • Strong facilitation skills to lead discussions with large groups of people
  • An understanding of all Gsuite tools and the ability to use IT tools required for operations: Gmail, google Docs, Survey Monkey, Sign up Genius, Social Media Tools.
