The WBHL Hockey Operations Committee oversees the day-to-day operations and long-term planning for FMMHA’s House League programs: the Wood Buffalo Hockey League (U11 to U18) and the Intro to Hockey Program (U7 and U9). Led by the VP of WBHL Hockey Operations, the committee ensures all activities follow FMMHA policies and Hockey Alberta regulations.
What the Committee Does:
- Manages daily operations of WBHL programs
- Supports coaches, team managers, and paid staff (e.g., trainers, coach mentors)
- Reviews and responds to appeals involving policies, discipline, or team concerns
- Oversees team budgets and spending
- Plans and executes player evaluations and team drafts
- Collaborates with the Development Committee to enhance player and coach development
- Works with the Officials Committee to support training and retention of local officials
- Manages player rostering and affiliations
- Ensures coaches meet certification requirements and supports continuing education
